Resigning President and Visiting Kanagawa
kanabun_yamashita01
Yamashita Park and Kana-bun
Because of the 1st temple issue, Ikeda Sensei resigned president of Soka Gakkai on 24 April 1979. Priests forbade Gakkai members the following actions, "To call Ikeda Sensei 'Sensei'", "To edit about Ikeda Sensei on the Seikyo Shimbun", etc... The them Gakkai members could not say "Sensei!" But members in Kanagawa resisted priests' pressures, they continued to call "Sensei!"
On 3 May, Ikeda Sensei and his wife Kaneko were the first to arrive at Kanagawa Bunka Kaikan at 18:59, after a ceremony at Soka University. The reason why he visited Kanagawa prefecture, was that he decided that he wanted to lead the World-wide Kosen-rufu seeing sea from Kanagawa Bunka Kaikan, and he would rather lead for the world than staying in the country of small island and jealousy. Kanagawa Bunka Kaikan was completed on April of that year. After arriving at it, "Minato Matsuri (harbour festival)" was held on the Yamashita Koen Dori (Yamashita Park Avenue) in front of Kaikan. It was the 120 anniversary of opening Yokohama Harbour. His wife Kaneko said to him that this festival is, so to speak, to welcome Ikeda Sensei's visiting to Kanagawa.

Seigi (Justice)
seigi01

On 5 May, Ikeda Sensei wrote a writing that went down in Gakkai's history. It is the writing of "Seigi (Justice)" on Japanese traditional paper, length 90 centimeters and width 60cm. Absolutely it means the decision of defeating unfair treatments. It was introduced in the room "Ko-fu no ma (a room of Kosen-rufu)" on level 3 at Kaikan privately. At present it also has been kept at Kanagawa Bunka Kaikan.
On 6 May, once Ikeda sensei and his wife Kaneko left this Kaikan. He distributed his name cards to members. The characters of "President of Soka Gakkai International" and "Honorary President of Soka Gakkai" were written on them! It was "new struggle of justice". Since then Ikeda Sensei have been to Kanagawa Bunka Kaikan many times.

Before 13:00, on 14 January 1980, about 1000 members from Shikoku (Kagawa, Tokushima, Ehime and Kochi prefectures) arrive at Yokohama Harbour on the "Sunflower 7" ship, and they visited Kanagawa Bunka Kaikan. Then Ikeda Sensei waited for them at Osambashi (the pier named Osambashi), and he gave members a bouquet. Members in Kanagawa also went to Osambashi to meet, with the Ongakutai musical performance. At 13:30 the meeting for exchange between Shikoku and Kanagawa members was held at Kanagawa Bunka Kaikan. During the meeting, Ikeda Sensei performed the piano, the music of "Three Martyrs of Atsuhara", etc... At 19:00, members of Shikoku left Osambashi of Yokohama Harbour. From the window on the level 10 of Kanagawa Bunka Kaikan, Ikeda Sensei and his wife Kaneko saw them off, waving pocket torches. And they did until a ship disappeared from the sight of Kaikan.
